The announcement comes as part of Guinness World Records’ 70th anniversary celebrations, with exactly 70 days to go until the historic milestone on August 27, 2025.

He received the Icon award in the UK during the anniversary celebrations.

Receiving his Icon certificate in front of a wall of his Guinness World Records titles Bolt said: “I’m always happy to be recognised by Guinness World Records. I’m honoured to be part of the greats, being an Icon is what I strive for. It shows that the work I put in really matters, I’m happy to be part of it.”

“Usain Bolt is more than just a record-holder, he’s a global Icon who has demonstrated what the human body and spirit are capable of,” said Craig Glenday, Editor in Chief at Guinness World Records.

Bolt, already a living legend, joins a select group of global icons who have redefined what is possible in their fields.

With a career full of jaw-dropping performances and undeniable charisma, the Jamaican sprint king didn’t just win races — he revolutionized the sport of athletics.

Among his most historic records:

• Fastest 100m – 9.58 seconds (2009 World Championships, Berlin)

• Fastest 200m – 19.19 seconds (also in 2009, Berlin)
