&lt;p&gt;The SBP noted a marked improvement compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, when the current account recorded a deficit of $1.572 billion.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;While May 2024 saw a deficit of $103 million, the current account had posted a surplus of $47 million in April 2024.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In contrast, May 2023 had recorded a much higher deficit of $235 million.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Economists have viewed the turnaround as a positive development.&lt;/p&gt;
