A spokesperson confirmed that acting on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government immediately withdrew the fare increase and issued an official notification to that effect.

The notification applies to all bus services, including the Orange, Green, Blue, and Electric bus lines and takes effect immediately.

The decision to roll back the fare hike came after strong protests from citizens across the city, prompting the government to reconsider its earlier move.

Previously, the CDA had announced a fare hike from Rs50 to Rs100, effective from June 1.

This increase affected all government-operated bus services in Islamabad.
