Supreme Court rejects Sunni Ittehad Council’s plea on reserved seats

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has announced its reserved verdict, rejecting the Sunni Ittehad Council’s plea regarding reserved seats, along with several other related petitions.

An eleven-member full court bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, delivered the decision on multiple petitions concerning reserved seats. The constitutional bench rejected the objection against the composition of the bench itself, as well as the Sunni Ittehad Council’s request.

The court also dismissed a petition requesting that the 26th Constitutional Amendment case be heard prior to the current proceedings. In addition, pleas seeking the live broadcast of the hearings and other related requests were rejected.

The detailed judgment on these miscellaneous petitions will be issued later. Meanwhile, the hearing of the main review case concerning reserved seats has been adjourned until May 26.
