Official sources confirmed that Islamabad International Airport was placed on red alert, with its airspace closed to all commercial flights. The sudden shutdown disrupted air travel, forcing at least three incoming flights to divert to alternative airports.

Among the affected flights were a Qatar Airways jet from Doha, a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft, and a private carrier, which were rerouted to Peshawar and other nearby locations as a safety precaution.

Authorities cited concerns over potential hostile action from India as the reason for the emergency measures. In Rawalpindi, residents reported Pakistan Air Force jets patrolling the skies, accompanied by loud aerial sounds.

Airports in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Skardu, and Peshawar were also placed on high alert, with emergency aviation protocols activated nationwide.
