The provincial president of the Transgender Association, Farzana Jan, announced plans for a significant protest in front of the KP Assembly on May 8.

Jan reported that a community member, known as “Bijli,” was kidnapped for refusing to pay extortion fees, with the abductors demanding a ransom of Rs5 million.

She highlighted that extortion attempts are common against transgender individuals in Swat and Mardan, and despite several FIRs being filed, the police have failed to take any meaningful action.

Emphasizing the existing vulnerabilities faced by the transgender community, Jan stated that the threats from extortionists are exacerbating their plight.
