The decision received official backing from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which praised it as a “principled and patriotic” move.

In a letter issued Thursday, the ministry described the suspension as a sign of national solidarity and a unified stance during heightened tensions.

“This patriotic gesture is highly appreciated and reflects the collective sentiment of the entire nation,” the letter stated.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also commended the PBA, calling the move a demonstration of “national dignity and sovereignty.”

In a letter addressed to PBA Secretary General Shakeel Masud, Tarar expressed gratitude for the association’s independent action and emphasized the role of media in strengthening national unity.

“I deeply appreciate this initiative by the PBA, which reaffirms the nation’s resolve,” the minister wrote, highlighting the importance of media contributions in advancing peace and unity.

He concluded by applauding media stakeholders for supporting the government’s broader goals of fostering patriotism and social cohesion.
