According to the astronomy news site EarthSky, the alignment will be observable approximately 30 to 40 minutes before dawn.

During this period, a thin waning crescent Moon will appear to the left of the bright planet Venus, accompanied by the dimmer Saturn. The trio will create a visual effect akin to a skewed smiley face shining in the eastern sky.

To fully appreciate this elusive formation, observers are advised to seek clear weather conditions, as clouds or fog may obstruct visibility.

While Venus and the Moon will be easily seen with the naked eye, Saturn’s faint light may necessitate the use of binoculars or a telescope for a clearer view.

Additionally, viewers are cautioned against looking directly at the Sun during sunrise, as the intense glare can lead to permanent eye damage.

Experts recommend careful timing and the use of appropriate safety equipment if necessary.

Another supermoon

Following this spectacular alignment, another significant celestial event is set to take place on Sunday, April 27: the closest new supermoon of 2025.

During this occurrence, the Moon will pass just 221,917 miles from Earth, approximately 17,000 miles closer than its average distance.

However, due to the nature of a new moon, it will not be visible from Earth, unlike the more luminous full supermoons that typically illuminate the night sky.
