Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan’s appeal as a market for Rwandan products and stressed the significance of boosting trade cooperation, noting that Pakistan can play a crucial role in Rwanda’s emerging economy.

Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungire was warmly received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.

During a joint press conference, Ishaq Dar expressed gratitude for Nduhungire’s visit, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Rwanda. Both countries are dedicated to increasing cooperation in various sectors.

Dar emphasized that Pakistan is well-regarded globally for its exports, including textiles and rice, and that it can significantly contribute to Rwanda’s economic development.

He also noted the existing strong cooperation between the two nations on international platforms.

Nduhungire, on his first visit to Pakistan, described his discussions with Ishaq Dar as fruitful and highlighted the importance of high-level exchanges in fortifying bilateral relations.

He mentioned that the relationship is grounded in mutual respect and expressed a desire to expand trade volumes, pointing to opportunities for exporting Rwandan goods to Pakistan. Both nations are also committed to contributing to global peace efforts.

Following the press conference, a signing ceremony was held where both foreign ministers formalized various agreements.

This visit marks the first official trip by Rwanda’s Foreign Minister since the establishment of diplomatic missions in Kigali and Islamabad, paving the way for new cooperative opportunities.

The Rwandan Foreign Minister will be in Pakistan from April 21 to 22 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
