He took the oath of office from Senior Supreme Court Judge Justice Munib Akhtar during a ceremony held in the Judges’ Block of the Supreme Court in Islamabad.

The event was attended by various Supreme Court judges, the Attorney General, law officers, and members of the legal community.

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi is currently on a week-long official visit to China, where he is representing Pakistan at a Judicial Conference.

During this visit, a memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed between the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Supreme Court of China.

Chief Justice Afridi will also meet with his Iranian counterpart on the sidelines of the conference, while Justice Shahid Waheed is scheduled to address a session on the use of artificial intelligence in the judiciary.

Following the conference, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi plans to travel to Turkey to attend the 63rd anniversary celebrations of the constitutional court.

In his absence, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will assume the responsibilities of Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan until Justice Yahya Afridi returns.
