Security measures were intensified following calls by religious and civil society groups to hold a solidarity rally in the capital. According to Islamabad police, the steps have been taken to maintain law and order and prevent any “unlawful assembly” near the Red Zone, which houses key institutions including Parliament, the Supreme Court, and diplomatic missions.

Checkpoints have been established, patrolling has increased, and additional police units have been deployed across the federal capital. Authorities have also imposed a ban on public gatherings in central areas.

Liaqat Baloch: “Turning capital into a no-go zone is disgraceful”

Reacting to the heavy-handed approach, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaqat Baloch warned the government against using force to suppress the rally. He said sealing off the city would only bring shame to the state. “The Red Zone must not be turned into a no-go area. Let the people express solidarity with Palestine peacefully,” he stated.

He further praised Kuwait’s decision to sever ties with Israel, calling it a powerful symbol of Muslim unity and urging other nations to take similar steps.
