Shops, markets, and business centres across the city remain closed, causing severe shortages of essential commodities.

According to the local trader community, the ongoing sit-in protest outside the Press Club on the city’s main road has now entered its 45th day. Traders and shopkeepers have joined the demonstration by shutting down their businesses in solidarity.

Protest leaders stated that the sit-in will continue until their demands are met, particularly the permanent restoration of traffic on the Tall–Parachinar route, a lifeline for the region.

Parachinar faces dire humanitarian crisis

The trade union and protest organisers confirmed that all commercial activity in Parachinar is at a standstill, and the strike will persist until freight vehicles are allowed to reach the city.

A trader representative mentioned that goods transport was expected to begin reaching Parachinar today, as promised by the authorities. However, the blockade and restricted access for supply vehicles remain a major concern for the residents, prompting the continuation of the protest.
