Speaking at the Anatolia Diplomacy Forum, Maryam Nawaz said that since assuming office in 2024, her government has been committed to improving the education system in Punjab. She emphasized that Punjab, being the largest province in Pakistan, is undergoing reforms across various sectors, especially education.

She noted that schools in Punjab are being upgraded with modern technology, with a strong focus on girls’ education. According to her, 50,000 students have already received scholarships—half of which were awarded to female students.

Launch of Nawaz Sharif Internet City

Maryam Nawaz announced that Lahore would soon host the first “Nawaz Sharif Internet City,” designed to nurture innovation and promote IT education. She added that academic curricula are being modernized to meet contemporary global demands and that the government is prioritizing digital literacy.

She also mentioned the merit-based recruitment of 30,000 teachers in Punjab and said training programs are being launched to enhance teaching quality. Providing swift and fair justice to the public is also part of her broader vision for the province.

Meeting with Turkish President Erdoğan

Earlier, CM Maryam Nawaz met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan. President Erdoğan welcomed her to the forum and expressed well wishes for former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, inquiring about his health.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan said, “I will meet Nawaz Sharif soon, Insha’Allah.” In response, Maryam conveyed Nawaz Sharif’s goodwill message and thanked the Turkish President for his invitation to the forum.
