The 81-year-old icon was celebrated during a special ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, where she reflected on her childhood in Los Angeles and memories of seeing stars like Lucille Ball and Doris Day.

Created in 2023, the Sports Entertainment category honors figures who’ve shown excellence and longevity in both sports and entertainment. King joins Michael Strahan and the late Carl Weathers as the category’s only recipients so far.

“Sports are entertainment, and as athletes, we love performing in front of an audience,” King said, also calling for more women to be recognized on the Walk of Fame.

Speakers at the event included NBA great Magic Johnson and actor Jamie Lee Curtis. Johnson applauded King’s impact beyond tennis, while Curtis praised her as a symbol of power and advocacy.

King’s groundbreaking career includes 39 Grand Slam titles and leadership in founding the Women’s Tennis Association and World Team Tennis.

She has also served as an executive producer for PBS’s Groundbreakers and appeared on shows like Law & Order and The Odd Couple.
