The annual matriculation (9th and 10th grade) examinations under the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) began today, with over 375,000 students appearing for the exams across the city.

To ensure a smooth process, examination materials are being delivered.

BSEK officials are transporting exam papers to 19 designated hub centers, where center control officers will distribute them to the respective exam centers.

These officers will remain on-site throughout the exams to oversee proceedings.

Over 499 examination centers have been set up across 18 towns in Karachi, with 256 centers for boys and 243 for girls.

Strict rules are being enforced during the exams, which are as follows:

Students have been prohibited from bringing mobile phones to examination centers, and any violations will lead to confiscation.

Additionally, to curb cheating, photocopy shops around exam centers have been ordered to remain closed.

Section 144 has been imposed to prevent any unauthorized gatherings near the centers.

The board has established a reporting cell to monitor the exams and deployed special vigilance teams to prevent cheating. Daily reports from each center will be submitted to the board for review.

To ensure uninterrupted exams, BSEK has formally requested KE (K-Electric) to avoid load-shedding during exam hours.

Security arrangements have been strengthened, with the Rangers and police asked to support in maintaining law and order.

In a media briefing, BSEK Chairman Ghulam Hussain Sohoo confirmed that 380,000 students will participate in the 2025 matric exams, which are being held at 499 centers.

He emphasized that all preparations have been finalized, and there is no room for error.

The chairman also highlighted that exam papers have been designed to be balanced and of good quality, and measures have been taken to ensure their security.

All supervisory staff have committed to carrying out their responsibilities with honesty and transparency.

Meanwhile, schools that requested changes in examination centers have had their requests approved. The updated list of centers has been uploaded to the board’s official website.

Students unable to reach their centers on time will be accommodated flexibly.

Moreover, today’s schedule includes Computer Studies for Grade 10 in the morning shift, and General Science in the afternoon shift, with each paper lasting three hours.
