Military deployed to ensure security for PSL 10, Women’s Qualifiers

Security forces from the Pakistan Army and Rangers have been tasked with ensuring safety for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

To bolster police efforts, one wing of the Rangers and two Army companies will be stationed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.

The Punjab Home Department has formally requested the deployment of these forces to secure PSL matches scheduled from April 11 to May 18. Each of the three cities will see the assignment of a Rangers wing and two Army companies to provide foolproof security.

Additional measures include the deployment of Special Services Group commandos and Army Aviation helicopters at all match locations.

These security arrangements, effective from April 6 through May 19, are crucial given the event’s high profile, featuring international cricketers, match officials, and various dignitaries.

The Punjab Home Department has also requested Army and Rangers support for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, scheduled to take place from April 3 to April 20 in Lahore.

Six teams Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, West Indies, and Thailand will participate in these qualifying matches, with the same level of security being provided.
