This visit will begin on April 4 and is expected to continue into the following week.

According to sources, the IMF team will engage in detailed discussions with Pakistani officials about tax revenue measures, reductions in government spending, and developmental expenditures.

The upcoming budget will also review cuts in expenditures and other development spending.

The federal budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 is anticipated to be presented in the National Assembly during the first week of June.

The IMF had commended Pakistan’s government for its fiscal policy efforts, highlighting significant achievements in reducing public debt, controlling inflation, enhancing tax equity, and maintaining price stability on March 26.

Also, last month, IMF staff reached a deal with Pakistan for a new $1.3 billion arrangement and also agreed on the first review of the ongoing 37-month bailout program, the IMF said on Tuesday.
