The federal government has accepted Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s offer to mediate talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Bilawal has now been entrusted with the responsibility of facilitating negotiations between the two sides.

Speaking on the country’s political and security situation, Bilawal Bhutto recently emphasised the need for national unity, particularly focusing on the challenges in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He asserted that the PPP is in a position to engage both the government and the opposition and is willing to bring all stakeholders, including those absent from the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, into the dialogue process.

Bilawal stressed that the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demands a united front against terrorism.

Reacting to Bilawal’s statement, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah, in a televised interview, said the government has no objection to reconvening the NSC meeting if Bilawal succeeds in bringing PTI to the table.

“If he can pave the way for talks and secure PTI’s participation in the meeting, it will be a significant achievement,” he remarked.

Addressing concerns about the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), Rana Sanaullah reiterated its necessity but indicated that discussions on preventing its misuse could be held during negotiations.
