According to reports, the petition, which contests the PECA Amendment Act, was adjourned because Malik, representing the case, was absent.

During the previous session, the court had issued notices to the federal government and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, among other parties.

Filed by the Association of Electronic Media Editors and News Directors, the petition also has support from the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors, the Broadcasters Association, the All Pakistan Newspapers Society, and various other organizations.

The petition, presented through former Attorney General Munir A. Malik, asserts that imposed censorship on journalistic activities constitutes a violation of fundamental constitutional rights.
