According to official documents, from December 2024 to February 2025, Pakistan exported 404,246 tons of sugar worth Rs58.52 billion.

During the same period, the average domestic sugar price surged by Rs23.46 per kg.

In November 2024, sugar was priced at Rs131.61 per kg on average. By February 2025, it had risen to Rs155.07 per kg.

The documents reveal that in December 2024 alone, sugar prices increased by Rs3.23 per kg.

In January 2025, 124,793 tons of sugar worth Rs17.93 billion were exported, while domestic prices jumped by Rs8.35 per kg.

February 2025 saw the export of 180 metric tons of sugar worth Rs25 million, with prices soaring by Rs11.88 per kg.

Sources indicate that the government had permitted the export of 750,000 tons of sugar between June and October 2024.

The last approval came in October for 500,000 tons, while on September 25, the federal cabinet sanctioned the export of 100,000 metric tons.

In June, the government allowed the export of 150,000 tons, setting a benchmark retail price of Rs145.15 per kg.

Authorities had decided to halt exports immediately if domestic prices exceeded this benchmark.
