Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has emphasised the need to transform Pakistan into a “hard state”, questioning how long the country will continue as a “soft state” while sacrificing countless lives.

Addressing the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, General Munir stated that no agenda, movement, or individual is greater than the security of the nation. He stressed that achieving sustainable stability requires harmony among all elements of national power.

“This is a battle for our survival and that of future generations,” the Army Chief remarked.

“We must improve governance and establish Pakistan as a ‘hard state.’ How long will we continue to sacrifice countless lives while operating as a ‘soft state’?”

He further questioned, “How long will we keep filling governance gaps with the efforts of Pakistan’s armed forces and the blood of our martyrs?”

Calling on religious scholars, General Munir urged them to expose the distorted interpretation of Islam propagated by extremist elements.

“If this country exists, we exist. Therefore, nothing is more important than the security of Pakistan,” he asserted.

The COAS stressed the need for a unified national stance that rises above political and personal interests.

He also issued a strong warning to hostile elements, stating, “Those who believe they can weaken Pakistan through terrorists should take today’s message as a clear warning. We will stand united to defeat not only them but also their facilitators.”

General Munir reaffirmed his faith in divine support, stating, “No matter what happens, with the will of Allah, we will succeed.”
