The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has denied reports claiming that new currency notes will not be issued for Eid al-Fitr. It clarified that commercial banks are receiving fresh banknotes for the occasion.

According to the SBP spokesperson, 17,000 branches of commercial banks have already been supplied with new notes. In total, fresh notes worth Rs27 billion have been issued across all denominations.

The central bank has directed all banks to ensure these new notes reach the public and to provide clean and crisp banknotes through ATMs without disruption.

The SBP emphasised that all possible measures are being taken to facilitate the public and ensure the availability of fresh currency notes for Eid celebrations.
