The assaults have left five police officers dead and seven injured, as militants targeted police stations and security posts.

Late-night attacks were reported in Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber, and Bajaur, where terrorists launched multiple offensives against security personnel.

Peshawar, Bannu, and Karak face heavy assaults

In Peshawar, militants attacked a Frontier Corps Bara Rifles checkpoint on Khyber Jamrud Bypass, injuring two soldiers, Kaleem and Liaqat. Security forces retaliated, forcing the attackers to flee.

In Bannu’s Cantonment area (Mumsh Khel), an unidentified gunman shot and killed a police officer before escaping. Authorities have launched a search operation. Separately, Reggi Police Station’s Malazai checkpoint was hit by a grenade attack, though no casualties were reported.

Counter-terror operations intensify

In response, KP Police conducted an operation in Lakki Marwat, Karak, and Punjab’s Mianwali district, destroying temporary militant hideouts in the surrounding mountains. However, the terrorists managed to flee.

According to a KP Police spokesperson, these camps were being used as launch points for attacks on nearby areas. Meanwhile, a partial curfew has been imposed in South Waziristan, effective until 6 PM today.

Government and security leadership react

Barrister Saif, KP chief minister’s adviser on information, praised the police force’s resilience, stating that multiple terrorist attacks had been foiled over the past three days.

He also commended civilians in Bannu and Lakki Marwat for standing alongside law enforcement in repelling assaults.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur called terrorism the biggest challenge facing the province, emphasizing that the KP police are fighting back bravely.

Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed warned that there would be no leniency for terrorist facilitators. He vowed that Operation Clean-Up will continue until the last hideout is eliminated, particularly along the Punjab border, where all temporary militant shelters will be dismantled.
