The government has announced its decision to refund additional charges to electricity consumers.

It is expected that electricity prices can be reduced by 30 paisa per unit for consumers of Distribution Companies (DISCOs).

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed a request for the monthly fuel adjustment for February, revealing that a total of 6.495 billion units of electricity were generated during the month as 6.666 billion units were supplied to electricity companies.

The CPPA showed that the cost per unit of electricity stood at Rs8 and 22 paisa.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is set to hold a hearing on this request on March 26.

Additionally, the CPPA reported the sources of electricity generation for February: 27.12% was produced from hydroelectric power, 15.02% from local coal, 1.56% from imported coal, and 10.32% from gas.
