On March 11, terrorists detonated a bomb on a railway track in the Bolan Pass area, attacking Jaffar Express and taking over 400 passengers hostage. Security forces conducted a major operation in Dhadar, Bolan Pass, leading to the deaths of at least 33 attackers.

On March 12, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry announced that all hostages had been rescued and all 33 terrorists had been neutralized. Prior to the operation, the attackers had killed 21 civilians.
