According to Kashmir Media Service, the slogans appeared amid ongoing student protests following an incident on March 1 in which two students were injured after being hit by a vehicle from the convoy of State Education Minister Bratya Basu.

The protests have been ongoing for several days.

It remains unclear who was responsible for the graffiti.

However, Kolkata Police has filed a case against supporters of the left-wing student organisation, the Progressive Democratic Students Federation (PDSF).

Campus head Keshale Roy expressed deep concern over the incident and called for strict measures to prevent foreign influences on campus.

He urged the administration to take firm action to maintain peace and democratic order at the university, warning against turning Jadavpur University into a hub for anti-state activities.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those behind the graffiti.

Notably, similar slogans were spotted in October 2024 at the 8B bus stand crossing near Jadavpur University.

At the time, slogans calling for “Kashmir’s freedom” appeared alongside demands for justice.

That incident had also sparked concern, particularly among the medical community, and led to a case being registered at Patuli Police Station.
