Javed Sheikh’s subtle revenge on Emraan Hashmi during ‘Jannat’ shoot

Renowned actor Javed Sheikh said he loves helping people during Ramadan and believes everyone should do the same.

“Ramazan is about restraint — eating less and avoiding excess. I never overeat at Sehri; I used to have parathas with desi ghee, then switched to plain roti, and now I eat brown bread. My role as the stammerer in ‘Na Maloom Afraad’ was unique and challenging, and I enjoyed it a lot.”

During his special appearance on the “Baran-e-Rehmat” Ramazan transmission, Javed Sheikh shared insights into his routine, emphasising moderation.

“Your Iftar table should not be overloaded with food — help others instead. I keep my Iftar light, drink tea, and eat fruit “chaat” instead of a full dinner. This keeps me fit.”

When asked about his favourite films, he said, “I have done many movies, but Syed Noor’s ‘Jeeva’ holds a special place in my heart. I played a Pashtun character, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Similarly, my villainous role in the Bollywood film ‘Jannat’ is also very close to me.”

A subtle revenge

Recalling an incident during the shooting of “Jannat” in South Africa, Javed Sheikh revealed, “When I first met Emraan Hashmi, he shook hands with me but turned his face away in a careless manner. That upset me. Later, the film crew suggested I go to him for rehearsals, but I refused. Instead, I made him come to me — and that’s how I took my revenge in style.”

From setbacks to stardom

The veteran actor reflected on the highs and lows of his career.
“Life is full of ups and downs, but we must face hardships bravely. Never lose hope in difficult times — trust in Allah and move forward.”

He recalled a time when people in Lahore had written him off.

“They said Javed Sheikh is finished, his era is over, and he should return to Karachi. But instead of resorting to bad habits or despair, I faced the challenges head-on. I even had to sell my car and take lifts to Evernew Studios. But Allah’s blessings brought me back to success.”
