According to details, the committee will examine alleged irregularities in the leasing of Port Qasim Authority (PQA) land.

The notification confirms that Brigadier (retd) Muzaffar Ali Ranjha, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission, has been appointed as the convener of the inquiry.

He will be joined by Sirajuddin Amjad, Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Syed Shahid Hussain, Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), as committee members.

The committee has been tasked with evaluating PQA’s legal strategy to lift the stay order against the lease cancellation. It will also investigate the factors considered by the PQA Board when deciding whether to pursue an out-of-court settlement with the claimant.

Additionally, the committee will review all legal opinions supporting such a settlement.

The inquiry will particularly focus on alleged financial irregularities in the leasing of Port Qasim land, which had originally been allocated for a small and medium-sized industrial park.

The scandal gained attention after Senator Faisal Vawda alleged that valuable land belonging to Port Qasim Authority was leased at throwaway prices under the current government.
