Italian sports writer Fabrizio Romano reported that Berta is the front-runner to become the English Premier League team’s new sporting director.

After leaving Atletico Madrid, he has been seeking a new opportunity and is thought to be eager to join the Arsenal FC, Gunners.

While assistant Jason Ayto has been managing the role, the team has been actively searching for a suitable replacement for Edu. Co-owner Josh Kroenke and managing director Richard Garlick are spearheading the search for a new sporting director.

The North London club parted ways with Edu Gaspar last November. The Brazilian had been integral to Arsenal’s project since 2019, playing a significant role in getting the club back on track, making his departure a considerable setback.

The Gunners have discussed various candidates and their search has focused on Berta, who is considered their top target at this point.

According to a report from TBR, the Italian has already declined an opportunity to join AC Milan, as he is solely interested in moving to Arsenal.

He even turned down the chance to speak with the Serie A club, believing he is on the path to securing the position at the Emirates Stadium.

Reports showed that he has reached initial terms with the North London club.
