Eligibility criteria have been set for the ‘Punjab CM Free Solar Panel Scheme’ to ensure targeted support.

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

• Verification will be conducted using the reference number and CNIC number on the consumer’s monthly bill.

• Domestic consumers having monthly consumption of up to 200 units under the following categories are eligible:

1. Up to - 50 Units (Lifeline consumer)
2. 51-100 Units (Lifeline consumer)
3. 0-100 Units (Protected)
4. 0-100 Units (Non-protected)
5. 101-200 Units (Protected)
6. 101-200 Units (Non-protected)

• Eligibility of domestic consumers will be based on bills for the month of June 2024.

• Consumer having a sanction load up to 2KW will be eligible.

The following people will be excluded from this scheme:

• Those involved in electricity theft.
• Consumers with defective metres shall not be eligible.
• People who have multiple meters at a single residence shall not be eligible.
• Domestic consumers involved in payment default (more than three late payments in 12 months).

Individuals can apply for this scheme in two ways, which are through online portal and messaging.

Under the scheme, the physical verification of applicants will be conducted, and installation will begin by the end of March.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that a total of 861,000 consumers have applied for the initiative.

To prevent theft, the solar panels and inverters will be linked to the consumer’s computerised identity card.
