The media outlet confirmed Ford’s absence through his representative while Entertainment Weekly reported that the Star Wars star fell ill on February 28 and officially withdrew from the 2025 Oscars on March 1.

“Shingles is a painful rash illness. People get shingles when the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which causes chickenpox, reactivates in their bodies after they have already had chickenpox,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

They will join previously announced presenters such as Selena Gomez, Oprah Winfrey, Joe Alwyn, Ana de Armas, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson, Bowen Yang, Lily-Rose Depp, and Sterling K. Brown.

This year’s Academy Awards will be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
