The decision was approved during the 14th meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority Board, presided over by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

Experts attending the meeting presented their recommendations for the efficient management of the Green Line and Orange Line BRT systems.

Discussions were held regarding the legal approval of transfer agreements, with documents sent to the Law Department for validation.

The Mass Transit Authority Board also approved maintaining the current human resource structure for three months to ensure a smooth transition.

Sharjeel Memon reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to providing modern and high-quality transport services to the public.

He stated that transferring control of the Green Line and Orange Line BRT would improve Karachi’s public transport system, adding that the government is working on further expanding and upgrading the BRT network.

“We are introducing more reforms in the transport sector to provide fast, comfortable, and efficient commuting options for the people,” he said.

The minister further assured that the Sindh government would utilise all necessary resources to strengthen and enhance the BRT system for long-term sustainability.

It is worth noting that Karachi’s Green Line Bus Rapid Transit service was launched in January 2022.

The modern bus network has since become an essential part of the city’s transport system, catering to thousands of commuters daily.
