Opposition leaders have accused the government of fearing the constitution and suppressing democratic voices.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi stated that those who came to power through illegitimate means are afraid of constitutional supremacy.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja warned against rising fascism, asserting that the voice of their party’s founder cannot be silenced.

Following a high-level meeting at the residence of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the head of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e- Aain, opposition leaders held an emergency press conference.

Addressing the media alongside Abbasi, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Salman Akram Raja, and others, Achakzai criticised the country’s history of constitutional violations.

“In Pakistan, those who manipulate the constitution face no consequences. Whether people like it or not, we must break this tradition,” he declared.

Abbasi reiterated that the current government does not represent the people and is afraid of public opinion.

“We are standing for the supremacy of the constitution. Those who stole power fear it,” he said.

He added that despite booking a venue for their constitutional conference, authorities denied permission, calling it an attempt to stifle free speech.

Salman Akram Raja emphasised that the upcoming Grand Opposition Alliance Conference will focus on resisting authoritarianism and demanding the rule of law.

“You cannot suppress the voice of our founding chairman,” he stated firmly.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza, leader of the Sunni Ittehad Council, stressed that the voices of all ideological groups must be heard.

“This country was built by our forefathers, and no one can silence us. Rain or storm, our conference will take place,” he affirmed.

Sajid Tareen highlighted the growing frustration among youth in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stressing that national unity is essential for democracy.

He also mentioned that the opposition recently concluded a three-day visit to Sindh to mobilise support for their cause.

The opposition leaders have vowed to proceed with their agenda, warning that if suppressed, they will disrupt parliamentary proceedings to ensure their voices are heard.
