She was en route to Gaya, Bihar, for work.

The incident occurred around 12:30am near Panagarh when her vehicle overturned, resulting in fatal injuries for Chatterjee and injuries to at least two of her colleagues.

While police attributed the crash to a failed overtaking attempt, witnesses claimed that the occupants of another vehicle had been tailing Chatterjee for over 10 kilometres, making obscene gestures and ramming into her car multiple times.

The other vehicle was found abandoned at the crash site, and both cars have been seized by authorities. No arrests have been made thus far.

Chatterjee, who was the primary breadwinner for her family, ran an event management company called Moonwalk and supported her ailing mother and two grandmothers.

Her mother, Tanushree Chatterjee, has rejected the police’s explanation of the incident and called for “immediate action against those responsible for the harassment and subsequent accident.”
