As tensions mounted, security forces reportedly opened fire to disperse the crowd. A police officer confirmed that one man died from a head injury, while six others were treated for injuries at Cox’s Bazar district hospital. Approximately 2,000 people had gathered near the base prior to the incident.

The military’s public relations office stated that four personnel were also injured during the clash, claiming that troops had only fired blank rounds and denying that gunfire caused the civilian death.
