Saira Bano slams PPP for Sindh’s decline, says province handed over without merit

Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Saira Bano has strongly criticised the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), questioning what progress they have made to justify their continued rule in Sindh.

She accused the party of plundering the province’s rights, alleging that illegal canals were drawn from the Indus River for Cholistan while the people of Sindh suffered.

Speaking on Aaj TV’s programme “News Insight with Aamir Zia”, Bano claimed that 460 government schools in Sindh remain shut, fake recruitments are rampant, and elections are manipulated in favour of the ruling party.

“Our real opponent in elections is the state itself, as the entire government machinery supports PPP,” she alleged.

She further criticised Sindh’s chief minister, stating that he has failed to address public grievances.

“What has the Sindh government done for the common man? The deteriorating condition of Karachi’s roads is in front of everyone. No one in Sindh is safe,” she added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Khurram Sher Zaman claimed that PTI has always focused on Karachi and previously won 21 National Assembly seats from the city.

He admitted that PTI’s past reluctance to engage with rural Sindh was a mistake but insisted that the party still enjoys significant support in the province.

“Imran Khan has always maintained ties with Pir Pagara and the GDA. Sindh’s political reality includes GDA, while MQM’s vote bank in Karachi has completely vanished,” he asserted.

Sher Zaman ruled out negotiations with coalition parties, blaming them for the country’s economic crises.

“PTI remains the largest political force in Karachi despite media restrictions on covering us. Our tough time is over, and now we are determined to form a government in Sindh and end PPP’s rule in the province,” he concluded.
