The innings started poorly as opener Soumya Sarkar was dismissed for a duck in the very first over, caught behind off Mohammad Shami.

In the next over, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also departed without scoring, caught by Virat Kohli off Harshit Rana.

The collapse continued, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz falling for 5 and Tanzid Hasan for 25, both caught by KL Rahul. Wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim was also dismissed for a duck. However, Towhid Hridoy stood firm, scoring a determined 100 despite battling fitness issues towards the end.

Zakir Ali also contributed with a vital 68 before getting out at 189.

Hridoy was dismissed in the final over after reaching his century.

For India, Mohammad Shami was the standout performer, claiming 5 wickets. Harshit Rana took 3, while Axar Patel bagged 2 wickets.

Indian batting

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a solid foundation with a 69-run opening stand before Rohit fell to Taskin Ahmed after scoring 41 runs.

Virat Kohli joined Gill but managed only 22 runs before being dismissed at a team total of 112.

Shreyas Iyer contributed 15 before departing, leaving India at a slight wobble.

However, wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul steadied the innings, staying unbeaten alongside Gill, who reached a brilliant century.

Gill remained not out on 101, while Rahul supported with 41 not out, guiding India to victory in the 47th over.

For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain took two wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman claimed one each.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, highlighting their strong performance in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

He stated that their last series win against India had boosted the team’s morale.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged that batting under Dubai’s floodlights is easier and mentioned that they would have bowled first regardless of the toss outcome.

He emphasized the importance of every ICC tournament match and revealed two changes in India’s lineup — Ravindra Jadeja replacing Varun Dhawan and Mohammad Shami coming in for Arshdeep Singh.
