The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have raised serious concerns over the election results, judicial decisions, and the current state of affairs in the country.

Barrister Gohar said that on February 8, the people gave a clear mandate to PTI, but the results were manipulated through rigging, with PTI’s 180 seats in the National Assembly being seized.

Umar Ayub emphasised that the judiciary must stand up and declare, “enough is enough.”

He added that access to Imran Khan has been blocked, and political leaders like Bushra Bibi and Shah Mehmood Qureshi are being denied jail facilities.

Speaking at a press conference at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Opposition Leader Umar Ayub Khan, Senator Shibli Faraz, and Salman Akram Raja voiced their concerns.

Umar Ayub’s comments

Opposition Leader Umar Ayub criticised the treatment of PTI’s leadership, including Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and other leaders, who are currently imprisoned in various jails.

He stated that these political prisoners are being denied the facilities they are entitled to under jail regulations.

He called the confinement of political leaders in military courts unconstitutional and demanded the immediate release of all prisoners.

Umar Ayub pointed out that the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution have not been upheld in Pakistan.

He called for the judiciary to take a stand and declare that enough is enough.

He said that the Election Commission and judiciary had failed to protect the party’s mandate, and reiterated PTI’s stance that it had the right to reclaim its mandate.

He also expressed disappointment with the government’s rejection of PTI’s offer to engage in negotiations, urging the government to make wise decisions for the benefit of the entire nation.

Additionally, Barrister Gohar highlighted the letter written by Imran Khan to the Army Chief, reflecting the public’s sentiments and urging for a closer relationship between the military and the people, which has not been adequately addressed.

Shibli Faraz emphasised the political instability in Pakistan following the February 8 elections and highlighted the contrast with neighbouring countries that have held transparent elections.

He pointed out that in Pakistan, the rulers have not come to power through the people’s mandate but have been imposed on them.

He stressed that as long as free and fair elections are not held, political stability will remain elusive.
