Amir, a Karachi resident, went missing on January 6, according to the police. His charred body was found in a car in Balochistan, they told reporters in a press conference on Friday.

Police added that they got to know about the death after a suspect made a shocking confession to them during the investigation.

As the story unfolds, investigators said on Saturday that the conflict leading to the missing person’s death arose from a dispute involving a girl.

Memon told Dawn that he supported the senior police officials involved in the investigations, stating that they encountered “specific challenges due to various factors” during the initial inquiry into the case.

In a press conference on Friday, Crime Investigation Agency Deputy Inspector General Muqaddas Haider said that the case was handed over to the CIA after Amir’s mother received a ransom call on January 6.

According to the IGP, the second issue was that the victim had been arrested and charged by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in a drug case. Police suspected that law enforcement agencies might have taken him, but it later “became clear” that he was not in their custody.

He added that when someone goes missing, the police consider whether the individual was kidnapped for ransom or if other factors were involved. After several days, he said the family received a ransom call, which seemed to be a “calculated attempt” by the main suspect to distract investigators.
