In its statement, the Foreign Office reaffirmed that foreign affairs fall under the federal government’s jurisdiction and noted that it had already addressed this matter.

Earlier, Barrister Saif, who is affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had confirmed that the KP government had prepared Terms of Reference (TORs) for a visit to Afghanistan.

He announced that a two-member delegation would be sent for talks with the Afghan Taliban, with the first delegation focusing on diplomatic groundwork and the second comprising multiple stakeholders.

Barrister Saif was appointed as the focal person for coordination.

The KP government stated that it would remain in contact with the federal government regarding negotiations.

A day earlier, during a consultative meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, representatives from political and religious parties decided to form a jirga to address terrorism in the province.

The jirga would include influential political and religious figures and work towards government-level talks with Afghanistan.

The participants also demanded an end to human rights violations in the country and called for urgent measures to eliminate terrorism.
