While addressing the gathering, he shared how, at the start of his legal career, people discouraged him by saying, “You are a watchman’s son; set up a stall somewhere. Law is not for people like you.”

The farewell event was organised in honour of Justice Kakar, who recently stepped down as Chief Justice of the BHC and was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court.

As he recounted his past hardships, his voice broke with emotion. He revealed that in his early days as a lawyer, he often had to walk miles to the court because he could not afford transportation.

Despite his struggles, he remained committed to justice, ensuring he never hurt anyone’s dignity.

He took a moment to seek forgiveness for any unintentional mistakes he may have made during his career.

Speaking about women’s rights, Justice Kakar expressed deep concern over the challenges faced by women in tribal societies.

He condemned the practice of honour killings, calling it an unacceptable injustice that must end. His farewell speech was a powerful reflection of resilience, perseverance, and a call for a more just society — one where background does not determine destiny and where women are given the respect and opportunities they deserve.
