Sindh government announces public holiday on February 5

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on February 5 on account of Kashmir Day, according to a notification.

All government and semi-government offices in Sindh would remain closed on Wednesday, February 5, it said.

Every year, February 5 is observed as a day of solidarity with Kashmiris.

Pakistan has committed to supporting the just struggle of Kashmiris for their inalienable right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

On August 5, 2019, the Indian government repealed Article 370 of its constitution, stripping occupied Jammu and Kashmir of its special status. The Modi-led government also divided up occupied Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories; one Jammu and Kashmir, and the other the Buddhist-dominated high altitude region of Ladakh.
