The police officer, identified as Muhammad Azam, was kidnapped while he was returning home from duty, police said. The incident occurred near the Khera Bridge.

Azam was posted in the investigative department at the University Police Station. Authorities have initiated operations to apprehend the kidnappers and recover the abducted police officer.

This incident occurred on the heels of a kidnapping incident in North Waziristan on Wednesday.

Six people, one FC man among them, were kidnapped and two water tankers were taken away by armed men in two separate incidents in the same tehsil of North Waziristan district, Dawn reported while quoting police.

Earlier this month, the body of a kidnapped contract worker from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission was found in the difficult landscape of the isolated Zareefwaal region in Lakki Marwat district.

A video shared on social media displayed armed local elders and residents in the hilly area. One elder disclosed that the kidnappers had returned Rehanullah’s body to them.
