Here’s how much US spends in foreign aid annually

The US US State Department has revealed that the country is “spending roughly $40 billion in foreign aid annually,” which is paused for 90 days.

“Without the pause, US taxpayers would have provided condoms (and other contraceptive services) in Gaza, climate justice marketing services in Gabon, clean energy programs for women in Fiji, support for gender development programs, family planning throughout Latin America, sex education and pro-abortion programs for young girls globally, and much more,” the US State Department said in a statement.

It was also confirmed that national security waivers have been granted to “protect US personnel overseas, facilitate the repatriation of illegal aliens, enforce non-proliferation obligations, and other matters.”

On January 21, President Donald Trump issued an executive order that halts all US foreign assistance programs for 90 days while reviews are conducted to assess their alignment with his policy objectives.

Trump declared that “no further United States foreign assistance shall be disbursed in a manner that is not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President of the United States.”
