The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request for a decrease in the monthly fuel price adjustment for December, which is set for review tomorrow.

The CPPA indicated that the estimated fuel cost per unit of electricity in December was Rs10.63, while the actual cost was lower at Rs9.60 per unit. During December, a total of 7.516 billion units of electricity were supplied to Distribution Companies (Discos).

The breakdown of power generation for December showed that 22.80% was generated from hydro sources, 10.06% from local coal, 1.59% from imported coal, and 0.03% from furnace oil.

12.31% came from local gas, 20.70% from LNG, and 26.48% from nuclear sources.

This potential decrease follows a recent notification from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), which announced a 20-paise per unit increase in electricity prices due to quarterly adjustments.
