Pakistan Navy to host Aman multinational naval exercise from Feb 7 to 11

The Pakistan Navy has announced that it was “all set” to host the ninth Aman 2025 multinational naval exercise, scheduled for February 7-11.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also confirmed that the exercise will feature the inaugural Aman Dialogue, which will run simultaneously. The forum would bring together military leaders from around the globe to discuss maritime security challenges.

“A significant aspect of this year’s exercise will be the Aman Dialogue, where Chiefs of Naval Forces, Coast Guard leaders, and senior officials will gather to address regional maritime security and develop collaborative strategies to combat emerging maritime threats,” the navy said in a statement.

The exercise would see participation from 60 countries, each contributing ships, aircraft, and personnel, including special forces, marines, and explosive ordnance disposal experts.

The Pakistan Navy added that the naval exercise would consist of both harbour and sea phases. The harbour phase would feature seminars, operational discussions, counter-terrorism demonstrations, and pre-sail planning for sea operations.

The subsequent sea phase would involve tactical manoeuvres and exercises focused on maritime security, including anti-piracy, counter-terrorism, search and rescue operations, gunnery firings, and air defence drills.

The sea phase would host an international fleet review, which would be attended by both national and foreign dignitaries. This exercise is set to be “the most prominent and historic military activity in the region,” with over 4,000 personnel expected to participate.

The opening ceremony for the Aman 2025 exercise will take place at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard. IN the exercise, the Pakistan Marines and the Special Service Group (navy) would showcase their counter-terrorism capabilities.

The ISPR also mentioned that joint operations aimed at combating maritime crimes will be conducted at sea.

While highlighting the initiative’s mission, the navy stated: “The motto of the Aman series, ‘Together for Peace’, reflects its core objective, while this year’s theme, ‘Secure Seas; Prosperous Future’, underscores the vital role of maritime security in fostering global prosperity.”
