The cold snap is attributed to a western weather system entering Pakistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Early Warning Centre (EWC) forecasts that the cold wave will likely persist during morning and night hours, although daytime temperatures should be more moderate due to sunshine.

Northeasterly winds are expected to continue over the next few days, keeping minimum temperatures between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius.

In rural Sindh, the cold was even more pronounced, with Mithi recording the lowest temperature at 2.5 degrees Celsius.
