In a statement on Thursday, the commission said it contacted Haider by telephone and updated him about the progress in his plea.

Seema, a Jacobabad resident, illegally entered India in 2023 to marry an Indian citizen, Sachin Meena. She took all four children to India when she left Pakistan after meeting her lover online. The children live with the two in Greater Noida, in India’s UP state. It is not yet confirmed that she divorced her first husband.

Last year, her Pakistani husband hired an Indian lawyer to seek his children’s custody. Haider also approached Karachi-based NGO Ansar Burney Trust which works for the recovery of missing and kidnapped children.

Haider was working in Saudi Arabia when Seema left for India with the children. He was still in Saudi Arabia when the news broke in July and returned to the country months later.

The Pakistan High Commission has assured the concerned father of all possible assistance.

Letters have been sent to the Indian government requesting access to the children, it said and hoped that the Indian government would grant the high commission access to the children soon.

Haider complained to the high commission that his four children, including three daughters, were illegally transferred to India. He appealed for “immediate action” and assistance from the high commission to bring his children back.
