Despite India set to play its matches in Dubai, Pakistan remains the official host for the tournament. The decision comes in the wake of India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan, leading to a hybrid model for the tournament’s hosting.

A PCB official, speaking anonymously, accused the BCCI of politicising cricket by refusing to include Pakistan’s name on the jerseys.

“BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel to Pakistan,” the PCB official told the Indian news channel.

“They don’t want to send their captain [to Pakistan] for the opening ceremony, now there are reports that they don’t want the host nation’s [Pakistan] name printed on their jersey. We believe that the world governing body [ICC] will not let this happen and support Pakistan.”

India to play Champions Trophy matches in UAE

India announced their 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy on January 18.

The United Arab Emirates will host India’s matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy, resolving a long-standing dispute between the PCB and BCCI.

The BCCI confirmed on November 26 that India will not participate in the 2024 Champions Trophy cricket tournament in Pakistan.
