The recall impacts the following brands: Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, no name, and Western Family, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported. The affected eggs have expiry dates of February 16, February 22, and March 1.

Provinces impacted by the recall include British Columbia, Ontario, and Manitoba, with the possibility of additional provinces and territories being affected. Initially, Alberta and Saskatchewan were included in the recall, but they have since been removed from the notice.

Consumers have been urged to avoid consuming, using, serving, or distributing the recalled egg products and are advised to dispose of them or reach out to the retailer from whom they were purchased.

The CFIA has cautioned that food contaminated with salmonella may appear and smell perfectly fine but can still pose health risks.

For healthy individuals, short-term symptoms of salmonella infection can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. But the infection can be more severe or even life-threatening for young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.
